Houston County High School is a grades 7-12 school located approximately 18 miles east of Dothan, AL. The school is located along State Highway 52 in the city of Columbia, AL. HCHS serves approximately 368 students living in the northeast section of Houston County. The staff consists of approximately 27 professional personnel as well as 18 support personnel. The school offers both core academic and advanced level courses as well as courses designed for special needs students. A fully equipped computer lab is available to students who receive Microsoft applications instruction. Two additional labs which offer research, remediation, and classroom technology integration support are available for reservation by teachers. Each classroom is also equipped with computer workstations for students to use in subject area remediation, Internet projects and webquests, extra credit work, or computer assisted instruction as assigned by the teacher. HCHS offers a well rounded and comprehensive athletic program for Sr. High and Jr. High boys and girls. Students enjoy competing in football, basketball, volleyball, fast pitch softball, cheerleading, marching band, golf and a BEST robotics team.
